RAMCHARGER 8

Big Sky Montana is one of the US’ largest ski and lodge resorts. I led this animated project from concept to execution. I storyboarded, animated, composited, and sound designed for this project.

THE ASK

Create a 10-15 second cinematic video with animated transitions of Ramcharger 8* logo. This was to be played on a massive, ultrawide screen for all skiers to watch.

DELIVERABLES

The final deliverable for this project was one ultra-wide video to be displayed at Big Sky Resort.

STORYBOARDS

For this project I took a cinematic approach: the animation opens with a close-up shot of a ram (left frame), charging and engulfed in tundra. The second frame shows the second ram, charging in a similar fashion (right frame). By frame three we see an even tighter close-up shot of the ram (left frame) continuing to charge. The camera zooms out, revealing the two rams charging at each other, impacting and releasing a powerful surge of energy and a burst of snow powder, unveiling the Ramcharger 8 logo in full.

RIGGING

What I enjoyed most about this project was learning how to rig. I had always wanted to apply character rigging to my animation repertoire and this project allowed me to do just that. I studied quadrupeds for a day to get an accurate understanding of their biomechanics. I used Duik Bassel to rig this character.
