“WE CAN NEVER GO BACK TO ARIZONA”

When I’m not animating or drawing, I’m making music with my friends. To Bloom is my passion project; I sing, write lyrics, compose, illustrate, animate, and handle PR for the band.

THE ASK

Create a compelling animation for To Bloom’s latest single “We Can Never Go Back to Arizona”.

DELIVERABLES

The final deliverables for this project were two animated ad sets and an audio visualizer for YouTube.

 
 
 
 
 

PROCESS

I collaborated with my friend Priya Kakati on the artwork for my band’s latest single “We Can Neve Go Back to Arizona”. I provided art direction for the final illustration which was used as the the cover art. I then took the illustration file and began to break it apart to ensure all of the elements were animatable.

Here is some behind-the-scenes footage for this project. I took Priya’s illustration into Procreate and hand-drew every frame of the fire. I then added textures and pushed the animations into After Effects for compositing.

PR WINS

I managed to get our last single “Wander” on both Spin Magazine and MetalHammer’s “Top Artists to Watch in 2022” lists. This was a huge win as it garnered us a lot of traction on both YouTube and Spotify.
